OPW, that is to say Oberndorfer Präzisions Werk, was established in 1951, and has been involved in the manufacturing of measuring instruments and gages of extreme precision for more than 69 years.

We act as problem solvers and partners for our customers when it comes to metrological issues, and as producers with a vertical range of manufacturing of up to 98%: control devices, special-purpose gages, SPC measuring stations, setting gages, spherical caps or indentation cups and spheres as well as alignment gages for product testing and measurement. As an additional service, we provide the maintenance, servicing, repair or calibration of our products.

Our company soon built up a reputation for itself by manufacturing a catalogue range of hand-held measuring instruments for dimensional metrology such as sliding vernier calipers, micrometers, adjusting gages, tolerance gages and so on.

In the 1970s, the former Mauser employees (who had previously made up a large part of the staff since the company was founded) retired and the manufacturing program was successfully reorientated towards more profitable business segments.

Today, in addition to a very small number of standardized tolerance gages, our workforce of approximately 60 almost exclusively produces special-purpose gages, control devices, standard reference gages or SPC measuring stations for the testing and measurement of workpieces or tools.

By special-purpose gages, we understand any gages, measuring instruments, testing devices, measuring devices and so on that are not produced to catalog, but which are manufactured according to customer drawings or to our own designs.

Here, our products range from fairly straightforward go / no-go gages to SPC measuring stations or Post Process measring machines.

We are also authorized as a general contractor for the installation of test stations within assembly lines.
